How To Maximize Profits and Limit Exchange Rate Risk
Doing business in international markets is a great way to gain access to new customers, improve margins, and expand your business, but it also carries additional risks that domestic trade does not. Among them is currency or exchange-rate risk. This risk assumed by exporters and importers changes rapidly and can result in significant differences between the amount invoiced and amounts later paid or received.
Every company that exports goods to, or imports goods from, foreign countries is exposed to currency risk. Companies that invoice directly in foreign currency are exposed to this risk, but even exporters, who sell to international distributors or, surprisingly, bill foreign customers in U.S dollars, are exposed to currency risk.
